From Mattresses to Pool Tables: Meet Chad, the New Owner of Cue’s Gameroom

Tucked into the heart of downtown Penticton, Cue’s Gameroom is more than just a large pool hall, it’s a local hub for great food, friendly competition, and laid-back good times. And now, it’s entering a fresh chapter under the ownership of longtime pool enthusiast Chad and his wife, Tracy.

We caught up with Chad to talk about his journey from the mattress industry to owning Cue’s, his vision for the space, and why this downtown hangout is about more than just billiards.

Q: First off, congratulations on taking over Cue’s! What were you and Tracy doing before this big change? "Thank you! Tracy and I recently retired from the mattress industry after almost 30 years. That said, we’ve both been involved in hospitality, sales, and running businesses over the years, so stepping into Cue’s felt like a natural next chapter for us."

Q: What made you decide to take over Cue’s Gameroom?

"Honestly, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to own a pool hall. I’ve loved the game since I was a kid. So when the opportunity came up to take over Cue’s, it felt like everything aligned — the right time, the right place, and the right people."

Q: For those who haven’t been yet, what can people expect when they walk into Cue’s?

"A fun, laid-back atmosphere filled with great people. Whether you’re here to play serious pool, grab a bite, or just hang out, it’s a welcoming space for everyone. We’ve got world-class Diamond pool tables — twelve 7-ft, two 9-ft, and even a Star snooker table — plus a kitchen that surprises a lot of first-timers."

Q: That’s right, Cue’s is kind of a hidden culinary gem in downtown Penticton, isn’t it?

"It really is. We’re known for our pool tables, but the kitchen deserves just as much attention. Everything’s made in-house, from our turkey burgers to our authentic Italian-style pizzas. People are often blown away by the food. We’re not just a pool hall, we’re a legit restaurant."

Q: Any plans for the future of Cue’s?

"Absolutely. One of our big goals is to grow the sport. We’d love to introduce new leagues and tournaments, especially a youth league to help the next generation fall in love with the game. We also want to give back to the community. Supporting the local Food Bank, SPCA, and other local causes is something we’re passionate about."

Cue’s Gameroom isn’t just a place to play pool, it’s a local gathering spot that brings people together. Check their website to see when they host the weekly drop-in events!

Whether you're digging into a slice of pizza, playing a family-friendly round of pool, or relaxing on the dog-friendly patio just blocks from Lake Okanagan, Chad and Tracy are ready to welcome you with open arms and a cue in hand.
